Some highlights for leisure and recreational craft

Alternative Energies
Booth 4028

Alternative Energies is the company behind the JOOOL full onboard energy system that was showcased on three sailing boats at the La Grand Motte show this past April. The benefit of the 25 kW (≈35 hp) electric hydrogenerating POD motor systewm is the OneBox, a smart, compact energy management and conversion unit that integrates every onboard energy source and output: battery, solar, wind, hydrogeneration, gensets and shore power. It oversees and controls not only the propulsion system in real time, but also all energy use, with easy to read monitor interfaces. The system has been installed on over 100 vessels worldwide, from dayboats to long-range catamarans to electric ferries to the French Navy’s first battery-powered surface vessel.

Ampros
Booth 9070

Ampros is a Polish electric and hybrid drivetrain company founded by long time sailors with years of experience in aerospace, lithium ion battery systems and composites. They offer a range of all-electric propulsion solutions from 200 to 800 kW (275 – 1100 hp) and hybrid systems up to 3200 kw (4350 hp). The Sialia 45 Sport, winner of the 2024 Gussies Electric Boat Awards in the Over 8m / 26 feet category has an Ampros system with up to 700kWh semi-solid battery, 2x300kW continuous motors and a user-centric Ship Management system.

EODev
Booth 4015

EODev is the commercialization arm of the Energy Observer research vessel that sailed 68,000 nautical miles around the world without emitting one single carbon dioxide molecule or any other particulate. The 31m (102 ft) catamaran uses wingsails, electric motors, solar panels and a fuel cell system that uses hydrogen harvested by separating it through electrolysis from the oxygen of water gathered from the ocean.

EODev has two large hydrogen fuel systems aimed at the shipping / megayahct market. One is a battery energy storage system (BESSTIE120) and the other is a large scale hydrogen generator (GEH₂) developed with Toyota and the Energy Observer team. A smaller version, the REXH₂, is an on-board version that can be combined with batteries to store energy for longer trips (RE stands for Range Extender) on smaller boats.

EPTechnologies
Booth 6020

Plugboats wrote about EPTechnologies after the METSTRADE show last November, where they showcased their new Falcon XXkW electric outboard, saildrives and easy-to-install 24V and 48V solid-state batteries. The reduced electrolyte content enhances safety by eliminating the risk of smoke, fire or explosions and EPT batteries can provide up to 7,000 full charge cycles and 10,000 cycles at 80% capacity.

They will also be showing a lightweight (under 110kg), marine-use 14kW mini generator, their BoatControl app and DuCan software. Marco Ottiker, the COO and Co-owner of EPTechnologies, will also be making a presentation on how the company’s electric propulsion, energy storage and smart integration are helping to transforming the marine landscape and his insights on where things are headed.
Booth: 6020

EVR Motors
Booth: 1240

EVR has a new take on radial flux motors. Rather than a straight cylindrical stator, their new Trapezoidal Stator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (TS-RFPM) is, as the name suggests, a trapezoid. This innovation enables smaller, lighter, cost-efficient electric motors ideal for marine applications. The company says their trapezoidal topology improves performance while preserving the advantages of traditional radial flux motors. Featuring 3D trapezoidal teeth and windings, it generates increased magnetic flux, and combined with improved cooling and the use of copper, produces significantly more power from a small, lightweight motor.

EVR’s current product line consists of four families ranging from 6kW to 150kW. The motors are modular, offering flexibility in supporting voltages from 48V to over 800V and meeting various speed and power demands without requiring significant changes to components or manufacturing processes.

Helios Marine
Booth 1040

This Bulgarian company has three all-electric solar boats in their lineup along with a range of battery and motor solutions to match. Their energy storage system uses LFP blade batteries in which the long thin shape of the individual cells enables higher energy density and better space utilization within a battery pack. The system supports scalable configurations and voltage ranges up to 1000V, serving everything from leisure boats to high-powered marine vessels. Each unit is IP67 waterproof, resists corrosion, and is constructed to perform under continuous vibrations and fluctuating temperatures.

Molabo
Booth 5000

The award-winning architecture of Molabo’s electric boat motors delivers unparalleled output of 50kW at just 48 volts, eliminating the complexity and cost of hiring high-voltage-certified technicians.  It is done through their multi-patented  Intelligent Stator Cage Drive (ISCAD) design that splits current across multiple electrical phases.

The motors are available in outboard and inboard configurations and are used by leading leisure electric boat companies like Frauscher, myelektroboot and designboats. They also have notable installations on commercial ferries and water taxis in Barcelona and Singapore and recently outfitted the IMOCA 60 race yacht, Malizia – Seaexplorer. This innovative system combines Molabo’s lightweight, safe-to-touch electric motor with solar panels, hydrogenerators, and a hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO)-powered generator. An all-electric F4 speedboat outfitted with a Molabo Aries drive will compete at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (July 3) and the Mons Water Grand Prix (Aug 21–24).

NT Systems
Booth 6065

NT Systems offers compact, turnkey electric propulsion solutions in pre-assembled systems that are optimized for maximum efficiency and feature electric motors, motor controllers, ECUs, complete cooling systems, electrical and water connectors, and engine mounts. They are designed for easy servicing, low maintenance and compatibility with various drive units. NT Systems will be showcasing its range of throttle levers combined with MFD displays, as well as several propulsion units, including the flagship C450 model with continuous power of 450kW (610 hp) and 1,580Nm (1165 ft-lbs) of torque.

Plugboats Marketplace of Electric Boat Motors

Rim Drive Technology
Booth 1300

Rim Drive Technology develops, manufactures, and sells Rim Drive motors from 0.5 to 75kW for the private, commercial, industrial, and underwater applications. Thanks to the unique design—featuring no center shaft—there’s minimal risk of entanglement from ropes, nets, or debris, making them an ideal solution for autonomous surface vessels and other critical applications. With only one rotating part, the simplified mechanism drastically reduces wear and tear, resulting in lower maintenance needs and reduced operating costs.

The motors are 100% electric and can be used as either main propulsion or secondary drives. For main propulsion, they provide fixed PODs, steerable PODs, and outboard options. In addition to motors, Rim Drive Technology provides a wide range of customizable complementary products, including batteries, monitors, throttle controls, motor controllers, and cables.
