Momentum was founded in 2022 by a team of naval architects, engineers and designers with experience building everything from warships to UAVs and a lot in between. They have a lineup of three electric outboard models to meet your needs:

Momentum U2  2.5kW / 5hp Electric Outboard 

 Overview
Compact, lightweight electric outboard motor built to replace small gas engines with clean, quiet, and efficient electric power. With 2.5 kW of output (up to 5 HP equivalent), the Momentum U2 delivers smooth, reliable propulsion for small boats without the noise, fumes, or maintenance of gasoline.

Key Features
Power: The 2.5kW / 5hp Momentum U2 has 2.5x the power of most 3hp electric outboards on the market today, but in the same portable form factor. 

High Quality Build: Very little plastic used in the construction of the U2 other than the battery housing. 

Best in Class Weight: The weight, or lack thereof, of the Momentum U2 might be its most impressive feature. The transom bracket weighs 4.5 lbs, the battery weighs just 17.5 lbs, and the motor, in short shaft, weighs just 20.5 lbs. That adds up to a combined weight of just 40.5 lbs.

Cable-Free Battery Connection & HUGE, easily accessible pins: There’s no cable needed to connect the battery to the motor; simply slide the battery on to the U2’s shaft, and the physical, power, and data connections are all made.

Separate Transom Bracket:  A separate transom bracket is designed to be left on your transom or motor mount permanently. No need to undo the transom clamps every time you want to take your motor on and off your boat; simply slide the shaft on to the bracket and you’re ready to hit the water!

On-Battery Display:  Unique to the Momentum U2 is that the display is built into the battery, not the tiller or somewhere else on the motor. You’re able to see the state of charge of the battery without having to attach it to your motor.

Momentum M6   6kW / 10 hp Electric Outboard

Overview
The Momentum M6 by Momentum Electric Marine is a 6kW / 10hp electric outboard that’s the most portable in its class. Whether you’re fishing in fresh water, need a reliable electric outboard for your dinghy, or just want to say goodbye to the noise and environmental impact of a gas outboard, the Momentum M6 is a great choice.

Constructed with primarily metal, not plastic, the Momentum M6 electric outboard is built to stand up to a harsh marine environment. Yet it’s still portable enough to take on and off of your boat with ease. The motor features a transom bracket that’s designed to stay on your transom, but the M6 itself comes off easily. The Momentum M6 is versatile and can be used with up to four Momentum MB-6 6.4kWh batteries, or third party batteries, as long as the system voltage reaches 72v.

The runtime of the Momentum M6 with just one Momentum MB-6.4kWh battery is enough for the vast majority of boaters. In Momentum Electric Marine’s testing on a small RIB, they found that one battery gave the M6 1.1 hours of run time at full power/11kts and 7.5hrs of run time at 4.4kts.

Momentum M10 10kW / 20 hp Electric Outboard

 Overview
The Momentum M10 by Momentum Electric Marine is a 10kW / 20hp electric outboard that’s perfect for customers who want an electric outboard for their dinghy, but still want to get up on the plane. Also a great choice for larger boats who need more power but still want the portability and easy installation of a small electric outboard. The Momentum M10 provides the power you’re used to with all the benefits of electric.

It’s the first truly plug and play system in the 10kW / 20hp power rating, with just one cable that connects the battery to the electric outboard, which includes both power and data connections. The Momentum M10 is versatile and can be used with up to four Momentum MB-6 6.4kWh batteries, or third party batteries, as long as the system voltage reaches 72v.

The runtime of the Momentum M10 with just one Momentum MB-6.4kWh battery is enough for most boaters with a dinghy. In Momentum Electric Marine’s testing on a small RIB, they found that one battery gave the M10 80 minutes of run time on the plane and 4 hours and 30 minutes of run time at 6.4mph.

Momentum M10 – Key Features

Power & Portability. Most electric outboards around the 10kW / 20hp size range are designed to be permanently installed in a boat. The M10 was designed with portability at its core.

Single Cable Connection. Most electric outboards over 3kw / 6hp have three cables that run between the motor and battery: a positive and negative power cable and a data cable. That isn’t the same with the Momentum M10; there’s one cable that runs between the motor and battery which houses both power and data. 

Separate Transom Bracket. Like most modern electric outboards, the Momentum M10 has a separate transom bracket that’s designed to live on your transom or motor mount. Not only does this reduce the weight you need to handle at once, but it saves time and energy whenever you need to remove your motor.

Energy Dense Battery. At 81.4 pounds, Momentum MB-6 battery isn’t light weight, but it’s Li-Ion NMC chemistry provides serious energy density. With 6.4kWh of capacity, the MB-6 battery weighs 12.7 pounds per kWh. 

Durable Construction. There’s very little plastic used in the construction of the Momentum M10.
