Flux Marine
Flux Marine’s clean sheet approach to developing and designing their Flux 115 HP electric outboard has made them one of the leading innovators in US electric boat motor technology. A closed loop cooling system keeps everything operating at ideal temperatures without the need for seawater intake. Instead of cogs and gears they developed a belt drive system to deliver instant torque to the propeller quietly and efficiently. The dual strut lower unit that the belt operates within also allows seawater cooling. A modular battery architecture adapts to a range of boats.
Two well-established and highly regarded boatbuilders, Highfield and Scout, partner with Flux to deliver quieter, cleaner and smarter boating experiences to their recreational customers in the RIB and sport/fishing markets. Flagship pontoons now offer Flux as an option on their premium pontoons and customized Garvey hulls with Flux electric outboards are making their mark in the workboat segment. Flux website
Genesis Marine Technologies
Genesis Marine Technologies is a powertrain technology company that entered the marine market with the Genesis 24, a production-ready hybrid-electric wakesurf boat engineered for sustained high-load operation and all-day use. In the hybrid system, the electric motor drives the propeller at all times with the gasoline engine functioning solely as an auxiliary power unit. There is no mechanical connection between the fossil fuel engine and propeller.
A typical 24 foot, 12,000 pound wakesurf boat consumes 40–50 US gallons of gasoline per day (150 – 190 L), while the Genesis 24 uses only 5–10 gallons (18 – 36 L). Pure electric mode enables surfing for 4 hours with out stopping. In hybrid mode customers can surf all day with no refuelling interruptions while the system charges dynamically or with set modes like Eco / Normal / Boost. Genesis website
